A visual representation of "fence" by Eddie Tay
CHAN Hei Tung
St. Mary's Canossian College
This photo was taken at nearly midnight in Hong Kong, a restless city.
At this late hour of the night, most of the occupants of the residential building were still awake.
The melody of a piano piece was faintly playing among the buildings.
Most people who are awake at this hour are either working or finishing their assignments.
This shows that people would go to great lengths like losing valuable sleep to work hard for their ambitions to achieve their dreams.
The poem talks about the high ambitions of people living in the city,
and the photo captures the life of hardworking and goal-oriented city people perfectly.
Despite the difficulties ahead, Hongkongers are all striving for their dreams.
fence
skyscrapers
all eyes looking at the centre
henry aspires to havard business
and throws away his harmonica
jenny is driving a car
into her global spider networked future
jonah unfurls like a creased carpet
on the eighth floor to watch voodoo tv
someone is working on her tablet cv
on winning beans and influencing people
dorcas must pass her abrsm
she bangs on her piano or else her mother
skyscrapers, fence
all eyes looking
