Subject: Summer fun begins!

Dear Sam,

How are you doing in Singapore? Summer has just begun, but it is already very hot in Hong Kong.

Yesterday was the Dragon Boat Festival. Our family went to Stanley Bay to watch the (A) well-known dragon boat race in the morning. I bet you have also read about it in the news. Although I am still (C) heartbroken at the death of my pet dog, Terry, the dragon boat races were so exciting that they made me forget the sad memories for a while. The boats looked like real dragons racing in the water!

We then had lunch in a restaurant in Murray House. It is a (D) century-old building with stone pillars and traditional arched corridors. We ordered congee, fried noodles and some (E) mouthwatering rice dumplings. After the delicious lunch, we went shopping. My mother bought me a (B) five-colour string and tied it to my wrist. She told me that this could drive away bad spirits and diseases.

Do you celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival in Singapore? Write back soon and let me know.

With lots of love,

Mike
