[Archive] School Allocation Exercise 2001

Introduction

School Allocation Exercise 2001 has commenced. Allocation of schools will be considered by an independent School Allocation Committee (SAC) PDF (6 KB) comprising an equal number of officials and non-officials, some of whom are from the education sector. For its power and function, please see Terms of Reference PDF (20 KB).

School premises scheduled for completion from 2002 to 2005, school sites for construction of schools and estate kindergartens will be made available for allocation in this exercise. List of school premises for whole-day conversion is also enclosed. However, school sponsoring bodies or schools are not required to apply for allocation of school premises for whole-day conversion purpose.

Allocation of school premises is on a competitive basis. The basic principle is to select school sponsoring bodies (SSB) with the best proposal to provide quality education for our children. Selection will be based on SSBs' proposed school plans for the new schools, including their vision, mission, class structure, admission policy, management and organisation, teaching and learning, support for pupils, school ethos, performance targets and indicators for self-evaluation, etc. [Reference: Criteria for assessment (Annex II to Guidance Notes) PDF (32 KB)]
