Language Proficiency Requirement (LPR)

 

The purpose of formulating LPR policy is to enhance the quality of education by ensuring that all English / Putonghua teachers possess at least basic language proficiency.  The LPR provides an objective reference against which a teacher's proficiency in the language he / she can be gauged to help them pursue continuous professional development.  Teachers are also encouraged to pursue continuing education, enhancing their professionalism in subject knowledge and language proficiency.
