- PLK Chong Kee Ting Primary School

  • This lesson example implements the Level 2: School-based pull-out programme of the Three-tier Implementation Model for Gifted Education.
  • The lesson topic is the formula and application of rate. Students will work in groups to design a model car, then each group will conduct a model car experiment to measure the driving speed.
  • The teacher will guide the students to think about the factors that can make the model car's speed faster and the methods to measure more accurately.

Infusing the Three Core Elements of Gifted Education in Level 1 Whole Class Teaching – Bar Charts

  • This lesson example implements the Level 1: School-based whole-class teaching of the Three-tier Implementation Model for Gifted Education. By infusing the three elements of gifted education and using differentiated teaching strategies in the lesson, it allows mathematically gifted/more able students to unleash their potential.
  • The lesson topic is about the understanding of bar charts. Students will learn different types of bar charts and acquire statistical information through reading bar charts.
  • Mathematically gifted/ more able students will challenge themselves with open-ended questions in the extended worksheet.

  • 本教學設計為「資優教育三層架構推行模式」中的第一層「校本全班式教學」,對象為小學六年級的學生。透過在教學設計中滲入資優教育三元素及運用適異性教學策略,讓數學資優/高能力學生展現潛能
  • 課堂主題為圓形面積的公式及應用。學生透過分組任務進行與圓形周界及面積的解難,然後每組進行匯報。
  • 能力較高的組別獲得的題目相對較複雜,亦會牽涉到不同課題的知識,學生在列式及運算過程將會遇到挑戰。
  • 教案最後部分引入設計概念,在給出的條件下,讓學生發揮創意,設計出以圓形、半圓形等組合而成的圖案。

  • 本教學設計為「資優教育三層架構推行模式」中的第一層「校本全班式教學」,對象為小學六年級的學生。透過在教學設計滲入資優教育三元素及運用適異性教學策略,讓數學資優/高能力學生展現潛能。
  • 課堂主題為軸對稱圖形。學生透過生活例子認識軸對稱圖形的特性,並能識別日常生活可見的圖案是否有軸對稱或對稱軸的數目。
  • 能力較高的學生可獲發一個非軸對稱圖案,並透過仔細觀察,對圖案進行填補,使圖案變成軸對稱的圖案。
  • 教案最後部分引入設計概念,在給出的條件下,讓學生發揮創意,設計出有一條或多條對稱軸的圖案。對於能力較高的學生,可讓他們把圖案填上顏色,使着色後的圖案也是軸對稱的圖案。

– 明愛粉嶺陳震夏中學

  • 本教學設計為「資優教育三層架構推行模式」中的第二層「校本抽離式培育計劃」。對象為中四及五年級的資優╱高能力學生。
  • 本課題為「蒙地卡羅算法」,教案內涉及的數學概念為一般中學數學課程以外的內容。
  • 教師先向學生簡介「蒙地卡羅算法」、與「實驗概率」間的關係和在科技上的應用,再以分組形式讓學生參與不同主題的攤位遊戲,從中應用所學知識解答問題。
  • 教案最後部分讓學生運用已學知識設計相關實驗估算橢圓形的面積公式。

Using e-Learning Tools to Enhance Problem-solving Skills in Mathematics for Gifted/ More Able Students

- Yu Chun Keung Memorial College

  • Teachers conduct quick test on previous knowledge about angle between line and plane and angle between planes on Kahoot app as an introduction to the topic.
  • For average students, teachers teach statement of the Three Perpendiculars Theorem and its applications.
  • For gifted or more able students, teachers guide the students to derive the condition for a line being perpendicular to a plane.
  • Teachers guide the students with average abilities to apply the theorem to problems involving regular polyhedrons while gifted / more able students can be challenged by applying the theorem to problems involving any polyhedrons.
