Creative Writing for Upper Primary Students –

An Anthology of Students’ Creative Works

An Anthology of Students’ Creative Works

To recognise schools’ active participation in the writing activity and showcase students’ creative works, an anthology has been compiled, featuring selected entries from each of the participating schools. In the anthology, students demonstrated their abilities to compose a variety of unique and imaginative festivals with fascinating events as well as special dishes. In addition, they shared their personal reflections and feelings about the values embodied by these innovative festivals, including “Respect for Others”, “National Identity”, “Benevolence”, “Filial Piety” and “Unity”. Teachers could make effective use of the anthology to guide students to appreciate the positivity infused in the festivals. Also, students are encouraged to read the anthology as self-learning activities.

Creative Writing for Upper Primary Students

An Anthology of Students’ Creative Works

The Curriculum Development Institute has disseminated the e-book Traditional Chinese Festivals, through the EDB Circular Memorandum No. 175/2023 issued on 14 September 2023, to enrich students’ cross-curricular reading experiences and enhance their understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture.

The creative writing activity aims to provide opportunities for students to leverage the e-book to connect their reading and writing experiences and facilitate their self-directed learning. To participate in the activity, students should create a new festival that promotes positive values and attitudes and write about it in 120 – 150 words. For more details, click here.
