Week of Hope logo

“Week of Hope” (Extended to 25–29 Jul and 1-5 Aug 2022) is a signature school-based activity for the SOW Campaign in the 2021/22 school year. Centering around inspirational quotes on the theme “hope”, the campaign will continue to enrich students’ English learning experience and nurture positive values in them through a variety of multimodal resources and activities
(EDBCM No. 164/2021).

In support of the implementation of “Week of Hope”, the resource kit “A Resource Kit for Promoting Positive Values and Attitudes through English Sayings of Wisdom” has been developed. It aims to provide inspirations and suggestions on activities to enrich the school-based English Language curriculum and create an inspiring learning environment for the learning and teaching of the theme “hope”. While the resource materials are intended for use in the upper primary and secondary English classrooms, schools are advised to adapt the learning activities with reference to their students’ needs and abilities to cater for learner diversity.

Notes to Schools
The SOW Ambassadors Scheme is a  school-based award scheme to engage students in supporting English teachers in organising the “Week of Hope” and other SOW activities throughout the school year.  A certificate of recognition and souvenirs will be awarded to the SOW ambassador(s) upon completion of the tasks listed in the passport.
Schools are engaged in making creative use of the “Tree of Hope”.  Students, staff members of the school and parents will be invited to write down on the leafcutouts about their thoughts and reflections on “hope” . The leaf cutouts will be affixed on the "Tree of Hope" and displayed in the campus to spread the positive vibes.
