Paris 2024 Olympic Games

The 33rd Summer Olympiad (Paris 2024 Olympic Games)

Introduction

The 33rd Summer Olympiad (Paris 2024 Olympic Games) will be held in Paris, France, from 26 July to 11 August 2024.  About 10 500 athletes from over 200 countries and regions will participate in 32 sports, competing for the honor in 329 competitions.  This year, four additional sports namely breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing are introduced in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The 17th Paralympic Games (Paris 2024 Paralympic Games) will also be held in Paris, France, from 28 August to 8 September 2024.  Approximately 4 400 athletes from over 185 countries and regions will participate in 22 sporting events, competing for the honor in 549 competitions.

The new slogan for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 is “Ouvrons Grand Les Jeux” [French].  The slogan highlights Paris 2024’s vision to open up the Games to create a new, more immersive experience, illustrated through various activities and initiatives.

  

Student Activities

Campaign – Road to Paris Olympic 2024 Challenge cum MVPA60 Award Scheme    

The 33rd Olympic Games Paris 2024 (Paris Olympic) will be hosted in this summer.  In response to this major sporting event, the EDB has launched a fun race of “Road to Paris 2024 Olympic Challenge”.  Leveraging the sports ambience of the Paris Olympic, the Challenge aims to enhance students’ interest in participating in physical activities, help them develop a habit of doing exercise and enhance students’ sense of national identity and national pride through watching the performance of China National Team and Hong Kong, China Team in the Olympic Games.  Participating students who complete specified tasks within the period from 1 July to 25 August 2024 (8 weeks in total) will receive an individual award under the MVPA60 Award Scheme.  Awards will also be given to those participating schools with active participation rate.
