Q1What should teachers be aware of when conducting online PE lessons?

When conducting online PE lessons, teachers should remind students to give due regard to safety (Refer to the safety precautions as contained on this webpage), and to ensure that the learning conditions of students can be observed through the screen. In addition, teachers should brief students clearly the learning content, requirement and reminding them the rules of safety and potential risks of the respective activities. For any potential risks identified, teachers should provide a prompt and to suspend or stop the activities.

 

For the teaching content, teachers should start at the lowest level of difficulty and increase the intensity gradually.  Also, theory classes or extended learning activities can be applied as appropriate.  Besides, schools are advised to maintain communication with parents, so as to facilitating them to be familiar with the school arrangement for providing appropriate cooperation and support.

Learning and Teaching Resources

The EDB has been working with different stakeholders to develop learning and teaching resources for teachers’ reference, including PowerPoints, video clips and examples of class activities.  Teachers can choose PowerPoints appropriate for school curriculum for face-to-face classes or online lessons.  Also, teachers can choose video clips of sports activities according to students’ ability and arranging students to practice beyond lessons or at home. Besides, teachers can make reference to the examples of class activities for arranging PE lessons for students with proper social distancing.
