Focal points
Bilingual books are used for the promotion of English reading.
Parents are encouraged to participate in the pre-reading activities of their children.
Programme details
The programme held twice during the academic year.
10 sessions were held per semester.
The participants were provided with Chinese and English versions of selected titles. The theme of four of the selected titles is ‘Friendship’ which matched with the P.3 English Curriculum.
There were four instructors, each led a group of 5 students.
The first and the last sessions were used for project introduction, delivery of questionnaires and evaluation.
Parents of the participants were encouraged to read the Chinese version of the selected reading materials with their children at home before attending the class.
The instructors went through the English version of selected titles with their group.
Each session comprised different activities, for example, reading selected English titles, games, drama and extended reading.
