Note 2: | The former Project Yi Jin (PYJ) was launched by the Government in October 2000 to provide an alternative pathway and to expand the continuing education opportunities for Secondary 5 school leavers and adult learners. The PYJ Programme comprises seven core modules and three elective modules. The seven core modules include Chinese, English I, English II, Mathematics, Information Technology, Putonghua and Communication Skills. As for the elective modules, a variety of practical subjects was available for choice. Students who had successfully completed all ten modules in the programme would be awarded a full certificate. The Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation (now known as The Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications) had evaluated the PYJ Programme and had confirmed that holders of the full certificate had reached a standard comparable to five passes in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) for the purposes of continuing education and employment. The Government accepts the full certificate as meeting the academic entry requirement of over 30 posts in the civil service requiring five passes (including English and Chinese) in the HKCEE. These posts include, among others, Ambulanceman, Amenities Assistant III, Assistant Census and Survey Officer, Assistant Officer II (Correctional), Customs Officer, Fireman, Immigration Assistant, Police Constable, Tax Inspector II, Labour Inspector II and Postal Officer. From the 2000/01 to 2011/12 academic year, a total of 57 849 graduates were awarded the full certificate of the PYJ Programme. With the implementation of the New Academic Structure and the cessation of the HKCEE from 2012, the PYJ Programme has lapsed by the end of the 2011/12 academic year and has been replaced by the Yi Jin Diploma Programme introduced in the 2012/13 academic year. |
