Results of Primary One discretionary places to be released on November 21
The results of Primary One discretionary places for September 2023 will be released on Monday (November 21) by all government and aided primary schools.
Parents are reminded to bring the parent's copy of the Application Form for Primary One Admission and check the results of their application between 9am and 5pm on Monday (November 21) at the school to which they have applied. In light of the COVID-19 epidemic, if parents cannot visit school to which they have applied in person, they may check the results on the school website or contact the school by phone.
Parents whose children have been offered a Primary One discretionary place are advised to note carefully the registration arrangements of concerned schools and the documents required for registration, such as the parent's copy of the Application Form for Primary One Admission and the specified number of photographs of children, as well as the measures of maintaining social distancing and related infection control measures of individual schools. Registration of successful applicant children should be made on Wednesday (November 23) or Thursday (November 24) during school hours according to the arrangements of individual schools. Parents should also note that as the “Vaccine Pass” arrangement has been implemented in schools, except for exempted persons or persons participating in school activities as students (for example, attending admission interviews), all visitors aged 5 or above have to present their vaccination record and use the "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile application to scan the venue QR code before they are allowed to enter school premises. Persons with a Red Code or an Amber Code are not allowed to enter school premises of visitors. Parents who cannot register their child with the school within the specified period and time should notify the person-in-charge of registration of the school concerned in advance to make alternative arrangements; otherwise, they will be deemed to have given up their discretionary place.
Parents of applicant children who have failed to secure a discretionary place or who have opted for Central Allocation only will be invited by the Education Bureau via letter in mid-January 2023 to make choices of schools for Central Allocation at a designated Central Allocation Centre on February 4 or 5. Primary One places will then be allocated to these children in Central Allocation. Besides, in line with the "Smart Government" strategy, the Education Bureau will implement digitalisation of primary one admission by phases starting from 2023. Parents are encouraged to register "iAM Smart +" (https://www.iamsmart.gov.hk/en/reg.html) as early as possible to enjoy more convenient and faster services. If parents have provided an email address in the "Primary One Application Form" and activated their Primary One Admission e-Platform account using “iAM Smart +”, they may make choices of schools and check the result of Central Allocation through the e-platform. Further details will be announced in due course.
For applications for participation in Primary One Admission 2023 made after February 5, parents are required to approach the School Places Allocation Section of the Education Bureau to complete the necessary procedures. The Education Bureau will separately arrange a Primary One place for the applicant children in June 2023.
