Parents’ Seminar on “Senior Secondary Curriculum and Subject Choices” 2024
The measures to optimise the four senior secondary core subjects (i.e. Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics, and Citizenship and Social Development) have been implemented since the 2021/22 school year from Secondary 4 to create space for students and cater for their diverse learning and development needs. With a varying degree of optimisation, lesson time is released for these four core subjects and greater curriculum flexibility is allowed to facilitate the provision of more diversified options by schools so as to cater for students’ different interests, abilities and aspirations, and to foster their whole-person development and multiple talents.
To enable parents of Secondary 2 to 4 students to gain a better understanding of the latest development of the senior secondary curriculum so that they can assist their children in making appropriate subject choices, the Education Bureau will organise a parents’ seminar on “Senior Secondary Curriculum and Subject Choices” on 16th March 2024 (Saturday).
Topics to be covered in the parents’ seminar:
I. An Overview of the Senior Secondary Curriculum and its Latest Development;
II. Introduction to the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination;
III. Alternative Pathways for Further Studies – Options Available; and
IV. Accompanying Children to Face Challenges on Their Way to Further Studies
Enrolment of this parents’ seminar will commence on 19th February 2024. For details, please visit the EDB webpage at https://www.edb.gov.hk/parentstalks (Chinese only).
