Electronic School Registration Certificate

Background

In line with the Government’s policy objective of digitalization of public services, starting from 1 July 2024, our newly issued Certificates of Registration of a School and Certificates of Provisional Registration of a School will fully adopt an electronic version with an e-Proof and a digital signature to replace the existing manually signed or stamped paper certificates.  The EDB will also renew the paper certificates in phases.

The electronic certificate adopts intelligent blockchain technology, which would offer greater convenience to the school sector and the public.  Once the school’s application for registration is approved, the school will instantly and conveniently receive an electronic certificate of school registration (in “portable document format” (pdf)) by email, without the need to collect the certificate in person.  Schools might also retrieve the electronic certificates much easily.  Each electronic certificate contains an e-Proof QR code, which enables the public to verify the validity of the certificates immediately through accessing the e-Proof website (www.eproof.gov.hk) of the Government by mobile phones and scan the QR code of the electronic certificates.

Replacement Exercise of the 'School Registration Certificates'

For schools with paper certificates, the EDB will conduct a replacement exercise in phases from September 2024 for them to obtain an electronic certificate at no cost.  Schools will receive our written notice about the replacement exercise in due course.  No application is required.  The schedule of replacement exercise is as follows-

How to verify the e-Certificate of Registration of a School?

1.
Are there any difference(s) between the electronic certificates and paper certificates for school registration?
2.
How to get the electronic certificate for school registration?
